Dr. Armstrong is double board-certified in otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) and in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Areas of clinical expertise include allergic rhinitis, nasal obstruction, sinusitis, facial trauma, hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo. Specialty diagnostic tests include nasal endoscopy, skin allergy testing, sinus and temporal bone CT scans, UPSIT smell testing, audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, and video nystagmography (VNG).
Dr. Armstrong graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1985, and AOA from Duke University Medical School in 1989. He trained at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1989 to 1995. He is the founder of Richmond ENT, where he practices full time with a special interest in diseases of the nose and sinuses. Dr. Armstrong was a consultant, scientist and instructor in the recent development of balloon sinus dilation technologies, and is currently a principle investigator in several clinical trials involving new treatments for sinusitis and for ear infections. Dr. Armstrong is actively involved in the ENT training of family practice physicians and holds the title of Assistant Clinical Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
