I am a certified disability examiner and perform social
Security Disability examinations weekly. I am familiar with what is required to perform a thorough examination and report.
I evaluate patients and give opinions about their their levels of disability on a weekly basis. Strength testing is included in my detailed report. I use a disability template questionnaire to assess activities of daily living, mobility, and stamina. I ask the claimant to use a keyboard, pen, and if they have one, a cellular phone
as a basic skills test. Disease specific questionaries are in template format for Congestive heart failure, chest pain, and Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. All systems are comprehensively examined-except genital and breast of course.
I look for evidence of exaggeration of weakness by comparison with Known patient disability. For example, an ALS patient in my practice could manage a 5ppsi with each hand on grip strength testing prior to her death. I expect a higher number out of all but paralyzed claimants. The dominant hand should be higher barring a medical issue compromising a limb,
