Additional Information

Dr. Curling has received degrees/training from Duke University, University of Virginia, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and Auburn University and has been practicing in central North Carolina since 1991. He presently sees a high percentage of North Carolina worker's compensation cases, but also evaluates out of state and federal W/C, as well as private disability and personal injury cases. Referrals are received from adjusters, case managers, defense/plaintiff attorneys, other physicians, or upon direct recommendation/order of the NC Industrial Commission. In addition to IMEs, other related medicolegal services are available, including review of records, surgical opinions, additional opinion on ratings, fit for duty evaluations, and attorney consultation or testimony as needed. IME scheduling requires receipt of at least a brief synopsis of the case, though review of all records is not necessary before scheduling. If Dr. Curling feels that he can assist with the case after review of the referral, the client/patient can be scheduled to be seen in the office, typically within 4 weeks following receipt of prepayment and records. All medicolegal cases are reviewed and evaluated only by Dr. Curling (i.e., no midlevel providers are utilized for these services). If requested following review of the IME report, Dr. Curling may be available to assist with obtaining further recommended studies and/or facilitating treatment. In addition to IMEs and Comprehensive 2nd opinion evaluations, for W/C patients referred within four months of date of injury, Dr. Curling also offers quick scheduling and consultation (typically within 2 weeks), with continued management/treatment thereafter as indicated/requested, accelerating the typically long process through several providers before eventually being seen for appropriate neurological specialty evaluation.
