Additional Information

I believe that forensic psychiatrists serve courts of law in administrative, civil, and criminal matters. My 3 board certifications assist me in these tasks and allow for enhanced analysis of difficult cases often involving psychiatric and medical conditions. My unique training allows me to untangle symptoms of mis-attribution. Complex cases often have many medical records spanning years of treatment that need to be studied and carefully applied to the questions before the court. It is important to evaluate cases for both the defense and plaintiff in legal matters. Areas of expertise; Administrative and Disability Cases: Boards of Medicine, Defense Base Act, Fitness for Duty, Homeland Security/ICE, Merit System Protection Board, Private Disability, Security Clearance Health/Mental Evaluations, VA Disability, SEC reports, FAA reports, and Workers' Compensation. Civil Cases have included: Capacity to Contract, Civil Rights Violations, Civil Commitment, Contested Wills & Estates, Dangerousness Assessments, EEOC, FELA, Guardianship, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, Malpractice, Personal Injury in State/Federal Courts, Professional Ethics and Peer Review, Professional Sexual Misconduct, Psychological Autopsy, Sexual Harassment and Hostile Work Environment, Suicide Risk Assessment Testamentary Capacity and Undue Influence, Violence Risk Assessments, Workplace Violence, and Wrongful Death. Being licensed in the states of VA, WV, and NC allows me to conduct chaperoned IMEs in those states, traveling as needed. Certifications: Diplomate American Board of Internal Medicine, 9/11/1985, Certificate #104080; Diplomate, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, 11/1989, Certificate #31733; and Subspecialty Board certification Forensic Psychiatry, April 2001, recertification valid through 12/31/2025, Certificate #1320.
