Additional Information

I am a fellowship trained board-certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon with 39 years of clinical experience specializing in comprehensive and complex spine procedures. My expertise encompasses Neurological Surgery of the cervical, lumbar, and thoracic spine, integrating cutting-edge techniques such as minimally invasive surgeries, microsurgery, and the application of advanced spinal implants. Beyond clinical practice, I have held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Spine Division, at the UC Davis School of Medicine since July 2000. My clinical repertoire includes anterior and posterior cervical fusions/ nerve decompression, total disc replacements, anterior lumbar interbody fusions/nerve decompression, thoracic fusion/ nerve decompression, and lumbar microdiscectomy, among others. I've treated a myriad of spinal conditions for thousands of patients stemming from auto accidents, workplace spinal injuries, spine trauma, gunshots, infections, and degenerative spine disease. Additionally, I am currently serving as Clinical Faculty for Orthopedic Spine Surgery at John Muir Medical Center's Primary Care Residency Program since 2017. I've performed over 1000 plus IMEs and provided expert testimony in over 2,000 claims ranging from medical malpractice to product liability. My dedication to advancing spinal surgery extends to my 30-year memberships with the North American Spine Society and the California Orthopedic Association. As a testament to my scholarly contributions, I serve on the review panel for the acclaimed journal "SPINE", having reviewed over 40 articles recently. I've furthered spinal innovation with my patented scoliosis correction method, a groundbreaking procedure that normalizes the scoliosis curve and has garnered significant media attention. Recognized for my pioneering contributions, I've been honored with the CASTLE CONNOLLY's Top Doctors Award annually from 2012 to 2024.
