CURRENT CLINICAL PRACTICE • At the Veteran Affairs San Diego Healthcare System, Dr. Matthews serves as the Medical Director of the Dual Diagnosis Recovery Program treating patients suffering from mental illnesses and co-occurring substance use disorders. • At the San Diego Jail Based Competency Treatment Program, Dr. Matthews serves as the Medical Director treating patients who are incompetent to stand trials due to a psychotic disorder or other serious mental illness.
