I have been in the full-time private practice of neurology continuously since completing a neurology residency and EMG fellowship in 1983 at Boston University. My active ABMS board certifications include neurology, pain medicine, sleep medicine, and clinical neurophysiology. Active non-ABMS board certifications include medical acupuncture, EMG, and EEG. My clinical practice is 1/3 general neurology, 1/3 pain medicine, and 1/3 sleep medicine. About 98% of my professional time is spent in direct patient care. This in part involves medical acupuncture, for which I have undergone specialized training, published medical literature, and lectured in domestic and international conferences. Since approximately 1985 and for several years thereafter I performed IMEs for the Department of Industrial Accidents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I have given legal depositions and have testified as an expert witness in court in cases involving industrial accidents, disability due to neurological problems, and medical malpractice. My current IME practice includes not only cases involving accidents but also more varied indications consistent with my training, experience, and board certifications.
